HALLOWEEN MERMAID MAKEUP TUTORIAL 2018 | #HQscare

Halloween is one of our favourite times of the year here at HQhair. Time to dress up, pull out all the stops when it comes to our makeup, and become someone else for the night! Traditionally, Halloween costumes are supposed to be scary, but times have changed and this year we’re swooning over those super cool but still pretty costumes. We caught up with Illamasqua and their makeup artist and brand ambassador Zoe to talk Halloween looks, and she created this Halloween mermaid makeup tutorial on mega babe Emily Weller

Halloween Mermaid Makeup Tutorial

  1. Mesmer-Eyes

Step one is all about the eyes! Grab yourself one of the Illamasqua Hypnotica Sketch Sticks in Free and Fly, draw onto your hand with them and add a little water to make them easier to work with. Use the Eyeshadow Brush to apply to the lids, and the Eyeshadow Blending Brush to blend up and out towards the ears into the hairline.
Next, use the Powder Eyeshadow in Cascade to brighten the middle of the lid, and dab some of the Gel Liner in Quixotic into the inner corners of your lids, then blend out using the Eyeshadow Blending Brush. Bring the Gel Liner down into your lashline using the Angled Eyeliner Brush, and dab some of Illamasqua's Pure Pigment in Axolotl over the top.
Line under the eyes, close to the lashline, using Illamasqua's Slick Stick Eyeliner in Mass and blend out using the Smoulder Eyeshadow Brush. Add a smudge of yellow under the middle of the eyes using the Sketch Stick in Higher, and blend out with the Eyeshadow Blending Brush.
Onto the brows! Fill in with sharp strokes using the Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Mold and apply using the Angled Eyeliner Brush.
  2. Hocus Pocus Highlight & Shimmer

Time to shine! First, prime your face using Illamasqua's Radiance Veil Primer for an added mermaid glow! Find your shade and apply Illamasqua's Skin Base Foundation using the Face Brush. Add a shimmer of highlight by applying the Powder Eyeshadow in Cascade across the top of your cheekbones using the Cheek Brush. Add extra mermaid vibes by blending some of the purple from step 1 into your forehead at your hairline, and dust a little of the Illamasqua's Pure Pigment in Axolotl over the top.
  3. Kiss Of Death

Make your lips super iridescent by first applying the Illamasqua Matte Lip Liquid in Exoskeleton using the Lip Brush With Cover - perfect for popping in your bag for touch ups! Before the lipstick dries, apply plenty of Illamasqua's Pure Pigment in Axolotl over the top, pressing the pigment gently onto the lips using the Eyeshadow Brush.
  4. Toil & Trouble Finishing Touches

Finish of those show-stopping eyes by applying a coat of Illamasqua's Masquara Gain. Allow the mascara to fully dry, then brush some of the Illamasqua Matte Lip Liquid in Exoskeleton onto the back of your hand, or into a small container if you find it easier, grab your Eyeshadow Brush and mix together with a little water until it has a more water-like consistency. Once the lipstick is thin enough to drip off your brush, carefully dab into a select few places along your lower lash line (careful to avoid eyes!). Press the brush into your lashline and hold there while the lipstick runs down your face like a tear!
