Festivals are all about dancing the day away, hanging out with friends and seeing your favourite bands, all at the same time. But for us at HQhair it’s also all about mastering that perfect festival makeup look right?! When you’re at a festival it is important to make sure your makeup lasts all day and with the crazier makeup the better at festivals we’ve pulled together some of our favourite looks around at the moment for inspiration but also what products we would use to create that ideal festival makeup look.
To make sure your makeup lasts, start by using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer which increases your foundation wear by up to 8 hours. When you’re spending most of your day outside it’s important to use a foundation with an SPF to keep your skin protected from the sun such as the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation.
It’s always good to give a bit of colour to your face (even if it’s raining at the festival!) With the contouring trend that is around at the moment and the healthy, dewy summer-glow being the ideal look, Boujois Délice de Poudre Bronzer Duo is perfect to achieve that effortless ‘just back from the beach’ look. Apply the bronzer with the contour brush from the Real Techniques Core Collection Kit for those Kim Kardashian style structured cheekbones.
When it comes to eye makeup for festivals, the bolder the better. Take inspiration from Pinterest, Tumblr and We Heart It and don’t be afraid to experiment. This summer it’s all about colour and you can achieve this with NARS Cosmetics Tropical Princess Eyeshadow Duo and NARS Cosmetics Duo Eyeshadow in Mad Mad World. Finish off your eye look with lashings of Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black Mascara.
To make sure your makeup stays in place all day, set your makeup using the Real Techniques Powder Brush and the Pixi Flawless Finishing Translucent Powder leaving you with flawless coverage that stays in place through all that dancing.
Lipstick for festivals is all about colour. The more daring lipstick you go for, the more attention you will get. We love NARS Cosmetics Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Roman Holiday, Daniel Sandler Luxury Matte Lipstick in Gigi and Daniel Sandler Micro-Bubble Lipstick in Micro Red for a perfect bold statement lip. Lipsticks are great for festivals as you can easily top up your colour through-out the day.
To finish off your festival makeup look, it’s all about choosing the right nail colour. We love Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Seven Dials for a bright sunshine yellow, Butter London Nail Lacquer in Sozzled for a bright green nail and Ciate’s Night On The Tiles from the Mosaic Collection for an added sparkle. Mix and match your colours, try a glitter-gradient or even an accent nail – there’s no rules!
When it comes to removing your makeup each day, it’s best to pack makeup wipes at a festival. They’re quick and easy to use and efficient in taking your makeup off. Korres Milk Proteins Cleansing Wipes are perfect for any festival – and the packaging is a bit funky as well!
