11 Things to Do This Bank Holiday Weekend

The August Bank Holiday is definitely one of our faves here at HQhair! It’s the last long weekend of summer to enjoy with your gals, so it’s important to make the most out of it! Of course, it seems impossible to make a plan in your group chat, so we’ve done all the hard work for you. With 11 things to do this bank holiday weekend, you can take inspiration and have the ultimate bank holiday with your squad!

Notting Hill Carnival

If you happen to be near London over the bank holiday weekend, you can’t miss Notting Hill Carnival! As one of the largest street festivals in the country, it celebrates London’s multicultural diversity and Caribbean culture. Combining live music, food stalls and a vast array of pop art, it’s a great opportunity to have fun and learn about other cultures! Top tip: the more glitter and bright colours you’re wearing, the better!

Go Camping

If the weather doesn’t take a turn for the worse, you’ll want to make the most of the long weekend! Grab your tent and sleeping bags and head off on a DIY camping trip with your gals! Take loads of junk food, a portable speaker and sit out as late as possible enjoying the fresh night-time air. Not a fan of the lack of luxury? Opt for glamping instead! Either way, an eye mask and a portable hairstyler are a must-have if you want to look stylish all weekend long!

Beachin’ Babe

Who said you need to be abroad to go to the beach?! Top up your tan, head on down to your nearest beach and enjoy the fresh seaside air. You’ll be feeling super refreshed after the day out, plus you’ll have plenty of cute snaps ready to upload to your Instagram! Make sure to get started with your golden glow pre-trip with a fake tan and keep your hair protected from the sun with a UV spray too!

Find a Festival

There’s always a lot of music festivals on during the bank holiday, so try to scope one out with your gals! You can also find local food and drink festivals across the country so if a music festival is out of reach, pop along to one of those instead. No matter what, always be prepared with glitter and a bright lipstick, you never know how many pictures you’ll end up in!

Go for Food

Is it even a bank holiday weekend if you haven’t once said the phrase ‘cocktail-oclock’? Pick a spot nearby where you can all treat yourselves to great food and yummy drinks. It’s the perfect excuse to get all dressed up without feeling uncomfortable from standing up all night! Opt for a subtle, dewy makeup look and pair with loose waves for the perfect bank holiday look.

Night Out

If you want to get dressed up and party, now’s your chance! Slip on your favourite heels, pop on your false lashes and dance until the sun comes up! Everyone will be out on bank holiday so you’ll want to be looking your best. Get your locks the length you want by booking in for a chop earlier on in the day, or get some high quality extensions to help you to channel those mermaid vibes.

Girly Night In

If you’re low on cash or just not in the mood for going out, get the squad together and have a girly night in. Get some face masks and nail varnish, give each other facials, manicures and pedicures and enjoy watching all the latest movies on Netflix! Top tip: order a whole range of different takeaways and make a buffet, that way you can all have bits of everything!

Spa Day

Fancy getting pampered? Why not opt for a spa day and enter the bank holiday feeling refreshed and replenished. Make sure to tidy up your nails before you go – nobody wants talon toenails! Plus, avoid ever having to shave again by treating yourself to permanent hair removal beforehand. You can show off your silky smooth legs in style in your fave bathing suit in the spa Jacuzzi… you own it!

Go Swimming

Even though you aren’t little kids anymore, you can still enjoy splashing around in the pool! Bonus points if you can find a waterpark to go to as slides are easily one of the most enjoyable ways to spend a bank holiday! Just make sure that you’re wearing a waterproof mascara, otherwise you’ll end up bringing out your inner raccoon rather than your inner child. Don’t forget to pack a Wet Brush too so you can keep your tresses from tangling.

Theme Park

For those who aren’t huge fans of water, swap your day out for a theme park. Roller coasters and rides will create great memories to look back on, plus they’re super fun! Your squad will think you’re a genius when you suggest it, so we’ll let you take the credit. Remember a hair tie to keep your hair out of your face when hurtling round your favourite rides! Add a quick spritz of makeup fixing mist too so your face will stay on fleek throughout the day.

Do Nothing

Okay so you’ve worked hard, so who says you have to do anything this bank holiday weekend? If you’re generally worn out and need time to regenerate, spend a day pampering yourself by doing nothing. Pop on a hair mask and some comfy socks and catch up on those TV series you never got the chance to finish! You deserve it.
