Benoit Dumont, a professional Makeup Stylist for Nars came in to show us how to do this look perfectly using the Andy Warhol collection by Nars.
We called it our Pop Art Bold & Bright Smokey Eye.
This look is great if you want to try something bold and flirty to brighten up any kind of day.
Step 1: Prep and Cleanse the Skin
Starting with a clean base, working with the Nars Skincare range to ensure that you have the best canvas for creating such a bold look. Benoit took off all of Anna’s make up and used the Nars Multi Action Hydrating Toner to even the complexion for a smoother finish. Moving onto the Nars Luminous Moisture Cream, using his fingertips to really glide the cream all over the skin, working around the t-zone and out to the cheeks and forehead.
This is our beautiful model Anna, make up free and ready for some colour
Step 2: All about the eyes
With a smokey eye Benoit told us to start with the eyes first, working on the complexion later, so you don’t have to take off your base when cleaning the excess shadow from the eyes, and it’s less messy.
Using the Nars Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Heat, fill in the sockets of your eyes. With its rich, creamy texture it makes the perfect base for the next colour application. Acting as a primer as well as the first layer of colour.
Using the Nars Andy Warhol Self Portrait 1 start with the green and apply to the middle of your socket. Building up the colour and blending all over the eye lid. Continuing past the inner corner to create a point.
Working with the purple/blue shade in the middle, work along the socket bone and blending from the outside into the middle. Applying more colour to build up the pigment whilst blending to ensure it mixes and blends with your skin.
Touching up the colour for both the green and blue, use the Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto along the upper lid to define the shape of your eye and deepen the overall look.
Step 3: Lash it up
Benoit’s big tip was to use the Nars Applicators Eyelash Curler before applying mascara, this curls the lashes without any hassle. The easiest way to use these is to put your chin up, look down into the mirror and apply the curlers.
Using two mascaras, Benoit started with the Nars Mascara Larger Than Life Volumizing to build up the drama and ensure that all the lashes were covered and thick. Finishing with the Nars Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara to stretch out the lashes.
Step 4: Now for the base
Starting with a foundation, Benoit used Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Gobi starting around the t zone and working out, ensuring that eye lids were covered and skin was flawless.
Using a touch of Nars Blush in Angelika along the cheeks for some contrast colour.
Step 5: Time for the lips
Going for a two toned lip, Benoit used colours that contrasted greatly with the blues and greens used in the eyes to really brighten this look.
Starting with the gloss, using Nars Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in International Velvet to put down a pale pink base. The gloss provides you with smooth coverage for when you apply the darker colour next.
Keeping to the outer edges of your lips, use the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Never Say Never to give a 3 dimensional finish to your lips. This effect boosts the pout of your lips as well as ensuring colour lasts as long as you do.
Finally: The finished look..
