This week we’re focusing on our love for all things Rose, from the pretty pastel pink colour itself to the use of rosewater as an ingredient in our make-up and skincare. The ancient Greeks and Romans reportedly used rose petals to perfume their baths, and roses have been used in cosmetics and beauty products for centuries due to its antibacterial properties, making it ideal for treating burns, skin conditions and abrasions. Rosewater has been used to treat acne, calm sore throats and add a touch of luxury to a bath! Find out our favourite Rose beauty products below!
Rose in Beauty Products
Many of our favourite beauty products contain a derivative of rose, whether that’s scents, rose water, or rose oils. The natural oils found in roses help to lock in moisture and contain high amounts of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant. This means that skin remains smooth and soft, as well as helping to protect the skin cells from damage! Some evidence even suggest that rosewater can help to prevent sunburn, although we would still always recommend a UVA protectant too. To top off all of these amazing benefits, rose can help to tighten pores and tone the skin, without drying skin out like many alcohol based toners.
