Class In Session : Pixi Skintreats

This week our pals from Pixi came into the HQhair offices to teach us a lesson all about their brand and products. From how the brand was created and where the inspiration came from, to their Pixi Skintreats products and ingredients, Pixi left out no details. We took notes and now we’re ready to teach you too!

How Did Pixi Begin?

Pixi first began in 1999, with one store in Soho, London by Swedish make-up artist and product developer Petra Strand. Petra wanted to be able to give people amazing products for accessible prices. She created innovative formulations which are infused with botanicals and beneficial ingredients. As a busy working mother of four, Petra created Pixi with the real woman in mind, meaning her products needed to be about multi-tasking, flaw-fixing, youth enhancing, and perfect for women on the go with little spare time.

Pixi’s mission is still the same as the day that flagship Soho store opened – to simply bring out the natural beauty in all women – to make women look like themselves, only better.

Pixi Skintreats

Pixi’s Skintreats are here to transform your skin into healthier, more radiant skin. Created with only the best skin-loving ingredients, the collection of cleansers, toners, serums, masks and creams are sure to add some extra glow to your complexion!

Cleansers

The Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm is a super rich and luxuriously textured balm to oil cleanser that melts away for clear and glowing skin. Take a coin sized amount and massage onto dry skin, then remove with a damp face cloth to reveal perfectly cleansed, nourished skin. Not only does this cleanser balance moisture with sweet almond oil, maintain hydration with Shea Butter and nourish and protect with Vitamin E, it also removes all makeup, including waterproof makeup!

The Nourishing Cleansing Balm is amazing for super sensitive skin (MyPaleSkin blogger Em Ford talked about how this cleansing balm helped to clear her Acne in this video) but it’s also a great first cleanser too for those who are starting to experiment and explore new skincare routines, but are unsure of what ingredients will work for their skin.

Cleansing Cloths

For those who are in need of an on-the-go cleansing solution, Pixi’s Cleansing Cloths are an essential addition to your collection. With two types to choose from, you’re sure to find something to suit your skincare concerns.

The Pixi Moisturising Cleansing Cloths are ideal for a post-gym or mid-day refreshment. Infused with Aloe Vera to hydrate and soothe, Camellia Oil to anti-oxidise, and Argan Oil to deeply condition, these cloths lift away any impurities while moisturising and protecting the skin, leaving a beautifully refreshed and hydrated face!

If you’re after something to remove your makeup too, the Pixi Makeup Melting Cloths are ideal. Effectively removing all traces of makeup – even those stubborn waterproof formulas, the clothes are infused with Grapeseed Oil to break down makeup, Glycerin to trap moisture to the skin, and Chamomile to calm.

Toner

If you haven’t heard of or tried Pixi’s famous Glow Tonic yet, where have you been?! Glow Tonic is one of those cult beauty products that bloggers all over have raved about, including skincare and beauty guru Caroline Hirons in this post. What makes Pixi’s Glow Tonic so special? The toner contains 5% Glycolic Acid – a very small molecule that gently accelerates cell renewal by dissolving surface debris to reveal a fresher layer of skin.

The Glow Tonic contains Aloe Vera to cushion the Glycolic Acid and ensure that it doesn’t irritate skin at all. With added Ginseng to improve circulation, and Fructose and Sucrose to brighten, using the Glow Tonic twice daily is sure to add some serious glow to your skin.

Serums

Adding a serum to your skincare routine is the perfect way to up your game and really take care of your skin. Apply these serums after cleansing but before applying moisturisers for an added touch of luxury.

The Hydrating Milky Serum from Pixi restores the skin’s youthful look by intensively hydrating and healing. Instantly plumping any pesky fine lines while smoothing the surface of the skin and increasing elasticity, apply the serum AM & PM to a cleansed face, neck and decollete, patting into the skin. The Aloe Vera will calm and soothe whilst vitamins C and E nourish and heal.

For something a little extra luxe, try the Pixi Rose Oil Blend. Rich in essential nutrients, anti-oxidants and vitamins to help replenish moisture levels, the oil works to deeply hydrate, protect and replenish the skin. Added Rose Geranium Oil tones and balances, whilst Pomegranate Seed Oil has powerful anti-oxidant properties and Rosehip Oil is a moisturising superfood to the skin. You can also add a drop or two of this to your moisturiser for added hydration and glow.

Moisturisers

Moisturiser is a standard part of any beauty routine, but Pixi’s moisturisers are anything but standard. Keeping your skin well moisturised and hydrated can be the key to avoiding sallow pigmentation, dryness and just general skin concerns.

Pixi’s H2O Skindrink is an intensely refreshing moisture gel with a really interesting texture. Packed with Hydration to give an ultra-cooling boost and infused with botanicals, it calms, soothes and plumps complexion. Added Green Tea has powerful anti-oxidant properties, Rosmary rejuvenates and stimulates whilst Glycerin acts as a humectant to trap moisture to the skin. For extra de-puffing, store this gel in the fridge and use cold!

If you’re looking for an added dose of radiance, the Pixi Glowtion Day Dew is a must. This touch-of-glow skin perfector hydrates and imparts skin with a beautifully healthy touch of radiance whilst hydrating. The advanced illumating pigments blur fine lines and imperfections, creating a more even looking skin tone. Lavender oil calms and soothes skin, Mica gives a brightened effect whilst Kaolin gently absorbs excess shine and balances skin. Use this in the morning after cleansing, toning and applying serum. Dab an extra layer anywhere you’d like that extra glow too.

Mists

Add a spritz of hydration with Pixi’s Hydrating Milky Mist. This lightweight mist-on moisturiser effectively provides an invisible layer of skin-soothers and preps the skin as a first layer of moisturiser. Glycerin acts as a moisturising humectant, Vitamin B complex strengthens the skin whilst Black Oat Extract is an anti-inflammatory, and is renowned for being used to soothe eczema.

Ensure your makeup stays all day with Pixi’s Makeup Fixing Mist. This lightweight potion prolongs makeup wear alongside containing potent ingredients to soothe and calm the skin. You can either use to refresh the skin or to set makeup for uniformed and prolonged wear. Rose Water soothes and hydrates the skin, Willow Bark Extract balances whilst Green Tea Anti-Oxidises.
