Illamasqua LFW Makeup 2019: HQ Tests

Every six months we sit down to watch (read: stalk) the best LFW beauty trends struttin’ down the catwalk, and this season was no different. We wanted to recreate some of the looks we saw, starting with this Illamasqua LFW makeup look at Richard Malone.

If you’ve been keeping a beady eye on the catwalk, you’ll already have seen that Illamasqua’s Director of Artistry Pablo Rodriguez sent models down the runway at Richard Malone with a blurred lip, which he’s titled “The Soiled Lip”.

Using the Illamasqua Galore Lipstick in the shade ‘Buff’, lipstick was applied over the lines of lips, and then blurred irregularly around the lips with a clean cotton bud to create a look MUAs refer to a ‘just-kissed’.

We took the same lipstick to try to recreate the makeup look, just as seen on the LFW catwalk.

To recreate the look, we applied the bullet lipstick straight onto lips without using any lip liner. We made sure that we were packing on loads of pigment and weren’t too worried about making sure the edges were neat, as we were gonna mess it up anyway!

Once the initial lipstick was applied, instead of using a cotton bud we simply rubbed our finger on the end of the lipstick and then used this to blur out the nude coloured lipstick to create the ‘Soiled Lip’ look.

Admittedly, we’re not planning to rock this look everyday (not intentionally, at least!), but we love the colour and creaminess of the lipstick’s texture, making it one of our new faves.
